(10) Question: Some of the people of knowledge say, “We advise the beginning student to read in the subject of correct beliefs, the book ‘al-Aqeedatul-Wasateeyah’ and in relation to fiqh, or the general understanding of how to practice the religion, to study the works of the school of jurisprudence predominantly found within his country. Therefore if the people of the country follow the Hanbalee school of jurisprudence, then study from the book ‘Zaad al-Mustaqnaa’, and if they follow the Shaafa’ee school of jurisprudence or the Maalikee school of jurisprudence, then study from their relevant books.” So what is the proper way to study the branch of knowledge known as fiqh, and which books do you recommend for its study? Is he considered from those who have fallen into a major sin as someone who behaved badly toward his parents? Or is he from those who are rewarded for his seeking knowledge even thought he disobeyed his mother in conformance with the statement of the Messenger (upon him be good mention and peace), “There is no obedience to the creation in disobedience to the creator.”? …………..112

(18) Question: Why is it not a condition to get permission from your parents when going to seek knowledge, but required when going for jihaad? Isn’t there a distinction in this, that if they have a need for you that you do not go for knowledge, and if they do not have a need for you then you may go seek knowledge? …………..120
(19) Question: Esteemed sheikh, may Allaah preserve you, we hope that you would give advice to your sons from among the students of knowledge who live in Abu Dhabee and the United Arab Emirates as a whole. …………..122
(20) Question: Oh Abu ‘Abdur-Rahman, we need for you to inform us how you organize your time in seeking knowledge. When do you do your research, when do you teach your brothers, and how many lessons do you have during a day and a night? And we ask Allaah for sincerity of intention for you and for ourselves …………..124
(21) Question: There are many hadeeth narrations which are addressed to “believers” or “Muslims”without using the phrase “woman” (or women). Does this indicate that the Muslim “woman” is not intended by these specific texts, as there are other verses of the Qur’aan and hadeeth narrations which do specifically mention them and are directed towards explaining the rulings for women and clarifying them? …………..128
(22) Question: What is the Sharee’ah knowledge that it is obligatory upon a woman to learn? …………..130
(23) Question: Esteemed sheikh, if our brothers desire beneficial knowledge they go to you and learn. But we are young women who have great ignorance of the affairs in our religion. Specifically, we need to be taught the rules of how to recite the Qur’aan; however we do not have the ability to have a teacher for this among ourselves or to conduct these lessons ourselves. So how can we seek beneficial knowledge? ………..132
(24) Question: What is the work of the female caller to Allaah, as you state that the Messenger of Allaah, may Allaah’s praise and salutations be upon him and his family, said: “Narrate from me even if it is a single statement.” And you mentions the statement, “The one who conceals knowledge, it will be a bridle upon him on the Day of Judgment.” So is it upon a woman to teach every matter that you teach, or is it established that this is not permitted for her? …………..138
(25) Question: What is the Islamic ruling of a woman who fulfills all the conditions of seeking knowledge within her home, but despite this goes to the masjid to meet her sisters in faith or to convey to them knowledge that she has? …………..142
(26) Question: If a female seeker of knowledge studies in the masjid, she needs to review what she has learned while at the masjid when she returns home, and this takes considerable time. However, she understands that needed work in her home awaits her, as she needs to assist her mother in the home. The affairs of her home take all of her time and seeking knowledge needs full dedication from her. So if she is occupied in her home, she is not able to acquire a great deal of knowledge. How can we reconcile between her commitment to her home and her dedication to seeking knowledge? …………..144
(27) uestion: A woman studies in her home and prefers to remain in her home- not even going out to the masjid. Is she better, or the woman who seeks knowledge outside and visits different masjids? …………..145
(28) Question: I am a female student of knowledge. I have been proposed to by close to 25 young men and I refused all of them during the past eight years. This was because I did not feel comfortable with any decision after making salat al-istikharah to Allaah the Most Glorified and the Most Exalted. However, my family has blamed me frequently regarding the failure to marry by saying, “What is important is any man who is acceptable.” But I have promised myself that I would only marry a brother who adheres to the Sunnah, and strives in the way of Allaah with his wealth, words and his self. So is this permissible? …………..146
(29) Question: What is the Islamic ruling regarding organizing our Islamic efforts in regard to women, with those efforts being in the masjid? That being, for example, a sister who takes the responsibility of straightening the rows of the women, and a sister who takes the responsibility of making sure the menstruating women are separated in a different area, and a sister who takes the responsibility for the management of a library by using cards for its administration. These young women would remain later after the other women have left in order to avoid any disorganization. …………..150
(30) Question: We see that some people do not give importance to seeking knowledge from the hands of the scholars and are satisfied with studying books in their homes. They argue that Sheikh al-Albaanee (may Allaah the Exalted preserve him) was able to reach the level of knowledge that he possesses solely by means of reading, not by means of taking from the scholars themselves. Is this correct and with what do you advise the one who says this? …………..152

I have come here only for a short trip and a short time I am not able to remain here and acquire knowledge from the hand our esteemed sheikh and from the hands of those others who teach here. For that reason I ask our sheikh with what he advises me in regard to books to read and study, and especially in the science of hadeeth? …………..188

(38) Question: What do you say about a student of knowledge who encourages beginning students of knowledge to read the book [[Fee Dhilaal al-Qur’aan]] and to place it within their homes? I explained to this student that these students are only beginning students of knowledge and they do not have the ability to distinguish between the beneficial and harmful statements in this book, or discern what the author stated reflecting the concept of unity of the creator and the creation! I put forth that they should read books such as ‘Fath al-Baaree’, ‘Sharh al-Muslim’ and ‘Riyaadh as-Saaliheen’, but he challenged this saying, “These books also have mistakes and errors. So why can they read those books and not read this book?” I responded by saying: “But he has statements advancing the concept of the unity of the creator with the creation!” However, he replied: “What else is there other than this one thing?” As he does not see this issue as significant enough. So are the following actions he is doing correct? Firstly, advising the students to read that book, meaning [[Fee Dhaleel al-Qur’aan]]. Secondly, making equal the author of that book to the two Imaams, Imaam Nawawee, and Imaam Ibn Hajr in regard to: a) mistakes in the issues of belief , as well as b) their position among the people of knowledge. …………..196

(43) Question: We observe that some of those who affiliate themselves with the methodology of the first three generations choose to occupy themselves with criticism and warning from the astray groups and sects, but neglect the seeking of knowledge, whereas others who claim the same methodology do give priority to seeking knowledge yet turn away from the matter of warnings and criticisms. Such that it has reached the state where those of the second group say, “Certainly, criticizing is not from the methodology of the people of the Sunnah at all.” So what is correct in this issue? …………..220

(48)Question: What are the causes that assist the student of knowledge in memorization, may Allaah bless you with good? …………..244
(49) Question: Can we take from the book verifications of Shu’ayb al-Arnout and his brother? …………..248
(50) Question: Along with the many people who verify the books from our righteous predecessors in this age; there are some verifiers who initially brought forth books in which are found beneficial points regarding general knowledge and correct belief. Then after they became well known among the ranks of youth, they began to bring forth strange statements and inconsistencies. How can the youth deal with this situation where there is little or no warning from the scholars regarding these shortcomings? From these verifiers, as an example, is the Sheikh ‘Abdul-Qaadir al-Arnaa’out and his verification of ‘Aqaawel at-Thiqaat’ of Karemee. We benefit from his introduction in relation to issues of correct belief and his refutation the distortion of the source texts by Asha’ree sect. However in contrast to this, in his comments within ‘Saheeh Ibn Hibbaan’, he brings forth similar distortions as them of some attributes of Allaah and legitimizes it. So we hope for a warning from these errors, and that you clarify for us the condition and level of some of the authors and verifiers in our time …………..250
