Sheikh Zayd Ibn Haadee al-Madkhalee, may Allaah have mercy upon him, said:
“An individual can recognize who is a reliable scholar through one of two matters: Firstly, by their having a reputation for being reliable and having sound knowledge, and this being a matter well-known and spread among the people. As with a reputation among the people that is well-known for sound knowledge, there is no need for an specific recommendation.”
