Sheikh Muhammad Baazmool, may Allaah preserve him said,
"It is not from the way of the first three generations of Muslims that the student of knowledge become preoccupied with secondary knowledge before focusing upon the study of the Qur'aan and hadeeth narrations. Once he has understood and leaed that which is required for him in his religion, then he can seek that desired additional knowledge afterwards."
